An acoustic wave is a rather complicated concept, and understanding it requires knowledge of physics terms. Nonetheless, it is worth learning about this phenomenon, as its effects can have a salutary effect on weight loss, fat reduction and cellulite. The wave is used in aesthetic medicine, and treatments using it are very popular, why?
Acoustic wave
Acoustic wave belongs to longitudinal waves, it propagates in a medium of density disorder. It can move through all states of matter – solids, liquids and gases. Contrary to stereotypical thinking, acoustic waves are not only sound waves that are audible to the human ear, but also those with very high frequencies that are not read by any human sense. Ultrasound, or acoustic waves of the highest frequency, has found its widespread use in medicine, particularly in physiotherapy and rehabilitation. However, it turns out that this wave is extremely effective in reducing cellulite and fat, so it is increasingly used in aesthetic medicine as Acoustic Wave Therapy (AWT).
Acoustic wave for cellulite
One of the reasons why acoustic wave is readily used in aesthetic medicine is its effect on skin tissues. Acting with very high frequencies on connective tissue, it significantly improves its tension and elasticity. In addition, the waves stimulate microcirculation and break down hardened collagen, blocking accumulated fat cells. This not only reduces cellulite, but also its immediate cause, making the effect last longer. Acoustic wave for cellulite is also effective as a preventive treatment that improves the condition of the skin and prevents the formation of unsightly lesions.
Acoustic wave for weight loss and body shaping
The AWT treatment is among the fat-reducing body treatments that are effective for weight loss and body contouring. The direct action of sound waves on fat cells leads to their breakdown and removal from the body. Thanks to fat reduction, there is a reduction in the circumference of the treated body part. It effectively slims the silhouette by increasing tension at the level of connective tissue, the remaining fat tissue is kept at its level.
What the acoustic wave treatment looks like
A special substance in the form of a gel is applied to the selected area of the body to be treated, the purpose of which is to focus the energy of the wave so that it is not lost before it reaches its destination. Then, a special device is used to interact with the skin with ultrasound. The entire process takes about 30 minutes and is completely safe for the skin, and usually painless as well. Minor pain may occur in patients with greater sensitivity to pain. Its performance does not affect daily functioning in any way, and there are no post-surgical recommendations. However, the acoustic wave treatment should be postponed in the case:
- pregnancy and breastfeeding,
- the occurrence of cancer,
- treatment with cortisol agents (you should stop taking the drugs at least 6 weeks before the planned treatment),
- Taking anticoagulants.
Adolescents under the age of 18 should also refrain from the procedure, permission to perform the procedure in this case should be given by a doctor after prior consultation. AWTs are also discouraged for those suffering from blood clotting problems.
