A veritable bane of almost every woman is the constant regrowth of hair in undesirable places, forcing frequent depilation and sometimes even daily shaving. This is the cause of irritation, folliculitis or ingrown hairs. A good alternative is permanent laser hair removal, which will effectively rid the problem of irritated skin. What does laser epilation consist of?
Depilation vs epilation
There is a fundamental difference between the meanings of these two similar-sounding expressions. Depilation is a procedure for the periodic removal of unwanted hair, which must be repeated regularly, as the removed hair grows back. Epilation, on the other hand, is a procedure, most often performed in specialized beauty salons and with the help of special equipment, which allows to get rid of hair permanently. Often, not knowing the difference between depilation and epilation, women use the two terms interchangeably.
How does laser epilation work?
Laser hair removal, as the name implies, is performed by sending beams of light of the appropriate intensity deep into the skin. By reaching the layer of the skin where the hair follicles are located, they permanently damage the follicles, causing them to be unable to continue functioning, and thus making it impossible for the hair to grow again. However, complete destruction of all bulbs at once is not possible during the first treatment. In order for epilation to be permanent and effective, it is necessary to carry out a series of treatments at appropriate intervals.
Is laser hair removal safe?
It is common for women to feel resistance to having their first laser epilation treatment. They are afraid of whether their skin will be safe during the procedure. However, there is no need to worry, as the procedures performed at our clinic are fully professional and the equipment is of the highest quality, guaranteeing safety. Before the laser hair removal process begins, the laser parameters are set according to the patient’s individual melanin level. By carefully assessing the phototype of the skin and the nature of the hair, the power of the laser is effective, yet completely safe. The laser only affects the structure of the hair, remaining indifferent to the skin, and the short pulse time does not allow the skin surface to be burned.
