Injectable lipolysis – what is it?

Lipolysis is a process of triglyceride breakdown that occurs within adipose tissue. It results in the formation of fatty acids and glycerol, which are later released into the bloodstream and metabolized. In cosmetic clinics, so-called injection lipolysis is performed, which involves removing excess fat tissue from selected body areas through a series of injections containing a substance that helps dissolve, release into the blood, and eliminate fat cells from the body.

Injection Lipolysis – What Is It Exactly?

Injection lipolysis is a type of non-invasive medical procedure performed after local anesthesia. It involves a series of injections of a substance into areas with significant fat accumulation—such as the neck, abdomen, thighs, or arms. The procedure lasts 20-50 minutes depending on the area, but the process of destroying and removing fat tissue from the human body can take several weeks.

Commonly injected substances in injection lipolysis include:

• Lecithin,
• Organic silica,
• L-Carnitine.

The first compound, along with deacylated choline, is used in anti-embolism therapy because both substances can dissolve fat blockages. Lecithin significantly increases cell membrane permeability, facilitating the elimination of excess fat tissue. It also supports faster fat burning during weight loss and has a beneficial effect on liver function by helping rebuild hepatocytes and preventing fatty liver disease.

The second compound, L-Carnitine, enhances the absorption and removal of fats from the body. It plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism by transporting long-chain fatty acids to mitochondria, where they undergo beta-oxidation. Simultaneously, it removes medium- and short-chain fatty acids from these cellular organelles that can be toxic in excessive amounts.

It is often used in mesotherapy aimed at preventing skin aging, hair loss, or the formation of cellulite.
