We use traditional depilation methods in our own homes. Disposable or electric razors, wax patches, hair removal creams or electric depilatories are the most common methods of removing unwanted hair. The question is – are such methods fully effective? Many of them allow you to forget about annoying hair for up to several weeks, while others, unfortunately, only work for a few days. What if you could get rid of excessive hair forever? This is possible thanks to laser epilation treatment.
Laser epilation, what is it?
Laser epilation is a procedure that removes hair along with the follicles without the possibility of regrowth. Unlike traditional hair removal methods, laser epilation removes hair forever. The procedure is carried out in beauty and aesthetic medicine salons. In its favor are high effectiveness, safety and non-invasiveness.
Types of lasers used in epilation
- Ruby laser – the first laser used to eliminate only dark facial hair.
- Alexandrite laser – effectively removes dark and slightly lighter hair.
- Diode laser – destroys the hair structure, damaging the hair follicles. The epilation procedure can take place under anesthesia.
- Neodymium-ion laser (Nd:YAG) – removes hair even from dark skin.
- Harmony IPL laser – is a combination of a laser beam with UV and IPL (pulsed light technology), eliminating hair from skin of any complexion.
- Diode laser with radiation (with ELOS technology) – a combination of laser action and RF current energy. The flow of electricity through the skin takes advantage of the difference in tissue resistance and heats the follicles, permanently removing the hair. Used for all skin types. Thanks to a system that monitors skin temperature, the laser action is interrupted when the safe level is exceeded.
- Light Sheer ™ Diode Laser System – diode laser epilation, whose surface action on the skin increases patient safety. It is also used on tanned skin and involves damaging the follicle. The procedure is short, and the ChillTip freezing system protects the skin from burns.
- Dealight Laser – a laser supplemented with Pulsed Light Technology (IPL) – permanently removes hair regardless of its color or location.
Vectus laser – what makes it different?
The Vectus laser is used in many aesthetic medicine clinics, including. Also at the Beauty Skin clinic in Warsaw. It is popular for its safety, patient comfort during the procedure and increased efficiency due to its system of reusing laser beams reflected from the skin. Skintel, a melanin level reader makes the procedure an accurate one and is done individually for each patient. Our skin is protected from burns with a cooling system.
What does the effectiveness of laser epilation depend on?
A key role during the treatment is played by the pigment contained in the hair – melanin. Darker hair is removed more effectively than light hair, as the higher melanin content affects the absorption of a larger portion of laser energy. Best results are achieved with black or brown hair, although the Vectus laser works equally well with light and red hair. The area being treated is also not insignificant. It has to do with the thickness of the hair in a particular area. The thicker the hair, the more dye in it and the more effective the treatment will be. Barely noticeable facial hair will be more difficult to remove than coarse hair under the arms, on the calves or in the bikini area.
Contraindications for laser hair removal treatment
Epilation treatment should be performed at least one month after sunbathing. Tanned, brown skin can absorb a dangerously high dose of laser energy, hence the risk of burning is high, while hair lightened by tanning will not be removed. Contraindication to the procedure is the use of photosensitive drugs (preparations for high blood pressure, heart, antibiotics, herbal, psychiatric or neurological drugs). Ladies who are hopeful should not undergo the procedure, as well as those who are prone to scarring or have pre-cancerous conditions.
The Vectus laser will help you get rid of unwanted hair permanently. No more tedious, repetitive process of epilating legs with a razor, no more pain accompanying tearing off wax patches!
